Certified Medication Technician Training Program
The Certified Medication Technician (CMT) training program is meant to get people ready for work as a CMT in a skilled care or intermediate care nursing home. The program’s goal is to teach students how to give drugs that aren’t given through a parenteral tube so that they can do this job to help licensed practical nurses or registered professional nurses with medication therapy.
General Information:
The CMT training course is a 20-hour clock program. It is meant for people who want to give medications at home or in assisted living facilities with the permission or watchful eye of a registered nurse. These are the things the students will learn:
- Medication storage
- Safe medication administration
- Medication routes of administration
- Role of the Med Tech, CMT, or medication technician
- Medication uses, responses, interactions, and documentation
- Observing, reporting, and recording physical and behavioral changes
