Empowering individuals with specialized training and skill development programs

Certified Medication Technician Training Program

The Certified Medication Technician (CMT) training program is meant to get people ready for work as a CMT in a skilled care or intermediate care nursing home. The program’s goal is to teach students how to give drugs that aren’t given through a parenteral tube so that they can do this job to help licensed practical nurses or registered professional nurses with medication therapy.

General Information:

The CMT training course is a 20-hour clock program. It is meant for people who want to give medications at home or in assisted living facilities with the permission or watchful eye of a registered nurse. These are the things the students will learn:

  • Medication storage
  • Safe medication administration
  • Medication routes of administration
  • Role of the Med Tech, CMT, or medication technician
  • Medication uses, responses, interactions, and documentation
  • Observing, reporting, and recording physical and behavioral changes
